ETTLINGER

ETTLINGER is a MAAG Group “Center of Excellence” for recycling systems and has long been among the most sought-after brands in the plastics industry for reliable filtration and cleaning of polymer melts. In parallel, it also offers special injection molding technologies – in particular solutions for manufacturing plastic parts with very high shot weights (up to approx. 130 kg).

Continuous melt filtration Plastics recycling ERF (up to ~16% contamination) ECO (PET/PA, low contamination) Pressure-stable operation

What ETTLINGER addresses in practice

Recycling and processing polymers often involves working with material that contains unwanted impurities. ETTLINGER focuses on applications where it is necessary to maintain stable line operation, ensure consistent melt quality, and at the same time handle a fluctuating level of contamination. Its continuously operating melt filters are designed for uninterrupted operation – with ongoing contaminant removal and without frequent shutdowns.

ETTLINGER filtration systems effectively remove solid and elastomeric contaminants, such as paper, wood, aluminum, copper, as well as rubber, silicones, or high-melting polymer composites. The result is improved protection of downstream equipment and more stable output quality.

  • Continuous filtration with pressure-stable operation (without typical fluctuations)
  • Higher recycled-material quality stability even with variable feedstock
  • Lower melt losses and less downtime thanks to the continuous self-cleaning principle

Portfolio: filtration, recycling, special injection molding

ETTLINGER offers top-tier expertise in filtration and recycling as well as in injection molding engineering. The core of its filtration portfolio is formed by continuously operating, high-performance melt filters, successfully used worldwide to filter polymer feedstock with varying levels of contamination – typically in recycling, compounding, and in the production of films, sheets, strapping, and fibers. Thanks to their compact design, they are also suitable for retrofitting existing extrusion lines.

ERF – for high contamination, repelletizing, and extrusion

The ERF series is intended for materials with contamination levels of up to approximately 16% by weight and is designed to operate for extended periods without replacing the filter medium (depending on material and application). ERF processes a wide range of polymers (e.g., PE/PP/PS/ABS/TPE/TPU, etc.) and removes contaminants such as paper, wood, metals, rubber/silicones, and high-melting composites. It is typically used in repelletizing lines, but also in sheet/profile extrusion; depending on size and application, throughput ranges roughly from 150 to 10,000 kg/h.

ECO – PET/PA and cleaner inputs, fewer “black specks”

The ECO series is primarily used for PET and PA thanks to its specific design – for low to light contamination (industrial waste, lightly contaminated post-consumer) as well as for clean virgin material. In addition to common impurities (gels, paper, wood, metals, rubber/silicones, composites), it helps significantly reduce degraded PET in the form of black specks. Typical use cases include extrusion where PET bottle flakes are converted into packaging films, strapping, or fibers. ECO can be used on single- and twin-screw lines; ECO 350/500/1000 sizes enable throughput of approximately 150–8,000 kg/h.

Application centers: test recycling with your own material

Would you like greater certainty before investing? ETTLINGER/MAAG offers live testing of recycling processes at application centers in Europe, the USA, and Asia on modern recycling lines (including ERF and ECO filters). You supply the material, and the team performs the test under conditions close to production – resulting in specific data and analyses demonstrating the benefits of melt filtration for your application.

Services and technical support

As part of the MAAG Group, ETTLINGER customers benefit from the combined technologies, products, and global service network – from support in solution design to service, spare parts, and expert technical assistance.

  • Expert consultations and design of a filtration solution for the given material and line throughput
  • Service, repairs, spare parts, and technical support
  • Support during commissioning and parameter optimization
