MDA 420 is a sensor with an accuracy of ±0.25% of the total range, which are ideal for applications requiring high accuracy, easy installation, repeatability and reliability. These sensors provide an industry standard with a 3.33 mV / V output signal that is designed to work with most pressure indicators and regulators. The MDA 420 is equipped with an 6-pin Bendix connector and optional thermocouples or RTD configurations available for melt temperature measurement (TDA models). The sensors are equipped with a 1/2-20 "UNF thread for installation in standard mounting holes and can be supplied with a number of other connectors and connections.

Dynisco Melt Pressure Sensors
MDA 420 | 422 | TDA 432
A grouped melt pressure sensor family covering rigid stem, flexible capillary, and combined pressure-and-temperature configurations for polymer melt processing.
High Accuracy, Simple Installation, Repeatability and Reliability
The Dynisco MDA 420 | 422 | TDA 432 family is designed for accurate melt pressure measurement in extrusion, injection molding, polymer processing, and other high-temperature industrial applications. The range provides a proven 3.33 mV/V output signal for use with compatible pressure indicators and control systems.
This grouped product page covers the main configuration options within the family. The MDA 420 is used where a rigid stem construction is suitable, the MDA 422 adds a flexible capillary for improved thermal isolation and installation flexibility, and the TDA 432 combines melt pressure measurement with an integrated temperature measurement option.
MDA 420Rigid stem melt pressure sensor for standard mounting positions where the electronics are not exposed to excessive radiant heat.
MDA 422Rigid stem with flexible capillary for installations requiring improved thermal separation or easier positioning of the sensor head.
TDA 432Combined pressure and temperature configuration with thermocouple or RTD options for melt temperature measurement.
Application and Installation
Rigid stem sensors are suitable for robust and direct installation into the mounting hole of the production line. Where radiant heat from the process may affect the electronics, a flexible capillary configuration can help move the sensor head away from the heat source and support longer service life.
The standard process connection is 1/2-20 UNF for installation in standard transducer mounting holes. Depending on the required configuration, optional connection variants such as M18 x 1.5 may also be specified.
Materials and Performance
Wetted parts are made from 15-5 PH stainless steel with DyMax® coating. The sensor family supports pressure ranges up to 30,000 psi / 2000 bar, with a maximum diaphragm temperature of 400°C and a maximum housing temperature of 120°C. Internal 80% shunt calibration supports practical setup and verification during operation.
For best configuration accuracy, verify the required pressure range, stem length, capillary length, process thread, electrical connector, and temperature option before ordering.

Installation of transducers into improperly cleaned or sized holes is one of the major causes of damage to these instruments. With this kit, the .312" tip diameter hole, the 45 degree seating surface, and the .451" hole can be cleaned. The kit includes a gauging plug which is used to verify that the hole has been correctly machined and cleaned. M10 and M18 cleaning kits also available.
The Dynisco Transducer Mounting Hole Machining Tool Kit contains all of the necessary drills and taps to prepare a standard 1/2 - 20 UNF transducer mounting hole and the 45 degree seat. All tools included in this kit are made of premium grade, high strength tool steel. Care should be taken in the use of proper speeds and feeds, lubricants, and a method to assure continual alignment of each progressing tool. M10 and M18 kits are also available.
The 1480 is a Universal Pressure or Temperature Input Indicator with single or dual configurable alarms, as well as optional linear retransmission of displayed Process Variable. Ideal for use in Extrusion applications.
The 1490 is a Universal Input Indicator with single or dual configurable alarms, optional linear retransmission of Process Variable, Transmitter power supply option as well as optional Modbus communications.
The UPR900 is a compact 1/4 DIN process indicator. The UPR900 can display your choice of engineering units related to a selectable range of input types.
